PRESS COVERAGE

We may not have been the best volleyball club or played at the highest

level but undoubtedly we were the best read volleyball team in Lanarkshire.

Over the majority of the years that the club has existed we have enjoyed

unprecedented press coverage. This has been to the particular annoyance

of national league teams, who as you will see in the clippings, seldom got

the headlines that we grabbed. Not only did this consist of almost weekly

reports in the Motherwell Times and Lanarkshire People, but along with other local papers,

we also had a couple of national reports and even a (short) film appearance on the BBC.

As you will appreciate this volume of reports mostly came about to satisfy our three main sponsors, Alethia Travel, Whatco and Redline. Subsequently, the reports are broadly banded under these three headings although our initial year as Clyde Valley / Thistle Sports and our latter success, simply as Motherwell VC, are included.

And while we haven’t carried out a name’s check suffice to say that everyone of our playing members, as listed within our club history, gets at least a mention. That said it would be interesting to know who gets the most mentions (apart from ‘Alethia’ or ‘Redline’ that is!)
